To make the foam that goes on top of the ears softer, take them off the headphones and squeeze them around in water with fabric softener. Take them out of the water/fabric softener solution and let them air dry for a while and then rinse them out with water to remove the fabric softener. Let them air dry completely and then put them back on the headphones. Drying times will vary according to temperatures.
In many consumers way of thinking this problem is small compared to the great robust, quality sound that is produced by the SR325is. They are pricey but many think the quality of sound they hear is well worth it.
