Galaxy is a model of a cell phone made by Samsung that comes in different model series and is already available on Verizon’s network. The Galaxy is a popular phone with Android market access. On the other hand, the iPhone 4 is made by Apple and can be purchased through another network but not on Verizon until February 2011. It also is a popular cell phone right now. Galaxy Pros:
- decent resolution, well built
- interface has speed but freezes sometimes about 10 seconds
- light & thin
- the Swype feature is easier to type on than an onscreen keyboard
- rich operating system with innovative mobile apps
- takes OK pictures and for price great phone
- has interface that can be personalized
Galaxy Cons:
- be prepared to do deciphering to change default menu from Eastern Europe to English
- registering into Android market a little slow
- trouble making navigator work with offline maps
- a must to download Android app Killer to keep phone running smoothly
- small screen usable if you have small to medium hands
- low resolution – but able to read web pages with no problems
- Google navigation don’t work offline so if you don’t have a data plan, don’t plan on using GPS
- no internal code to access YouTube or Google Android market
- can’t install Skype
- no flash for camera
- no dedicated button
- All Share can be finicky about detecting media servers
- battery runs out fairly quickly
- Americans and countries using similar power sockets will need to get either converter or own plug with a micro-USB connector since it comes with a Europlug style
- not a phone for someone who isn’t tech savvy
- if you use GPS and wifi all the time – should buy a spare battery
- email issues – may have to send over & over
- extended reboot times
iPhone 4 Pros:
- larger number of apps to choose from
- Retina display technology – significantly higher resolution…performs better in sunlight and bright areas than most other phones – less eyestrain
- front facing camera which allows video chat with each other
- the battery life great
- inclusion of folders for better app organization
iPhone 4 Cons:
- only allows multitasking with certain programs
- when connecting to TV…simply connects via AV cables
- display size 3.5″ screen
- doesn’t have Swype function
- can’t talk on phone and surf web at the same time
